Agricultural Society of India was established by Reverend William Carey on September 14
1824 Introduced cash crops  seeds of which brought from America and Mauritius
1827
First document on Agriculture and Horticulture in British India published by the Society
1828 First Horticulture Exhibition in India was hosted by the Society
1830
Sugercane and Tobacco was cultivated at Akra Firm  of the society in South 24 Parganas
1831 Maize seeds were brought from America for cultivation
1832 Introduced Ginger from Jamaica and potato from England
1835 Established branches in Lucknow, Madras and Dinajpur
1836
Shifted to the premises of Royal Botanic Garden, Howrah. 25 more branches opened in India
1838 First Egyptian Cotton was grown
1839 Grafts of fruit plants was successfully  were procured and cultivated
1840 32 varieties of wheat was brought from Europe and Egypt
1841 North India reports good quality potatoes from Society’s tubers.
1843 Cocoa plants introduced from West Indies
1845
Manchester Cotton Supply Association declares Rs. 1000 prize for the best cotton grown in India with Society’s help
1851 Procures seeds of Mexican Cotton
1853 Import tobacco seeds from Cuba, Hungary and Columbia
1854 Rhea seeds imported from Scotland and England
1858 Introduces Bougainvillea spectabillis from South Africa
1862 Introdcues ornamental plants
1872
Agri-Horticultural Society shifts to its present location at 1, Alipore Road, Kolkata
1902 Introduces Sralia (Panax) Balfouriana, the stalk that produces bud sprouts
1907 Raises a new hybrid cooperanthas by crossi9ng cooperia and zephyranthes
1916
Council of the Society sanctions Rs. 200 to purchase orchids to improve its collection
1928 Published  first book “ An Ameteur in an Indian Garden” by Percy Lancaster
1933 Raises hybrid cosmos and named it as “Alipore Beauty”
1935
Granted privilege to use the title “Royal” in recognition  of its service, by King George V.
1939
Percy Lancaster of the Society awared Harvard Medal  by Amaryllis Society of America for his achievement in hybriding Habrant-Bus texanas
1940
Lancanster raises hybrid named Malthea by crossing Althea rosea and Malr sylvesrisva
1961
Carey Institute of Horticulture set up in the Society to conduct certificate course in horticulture, affiliated to Calcutta University
1962 Birla Laboratory set up in society for R&D in horticulture and floriculture
1963
First Batch of 12 boys admitted to the certificate course. AHSI Laboratory recognized as Research Center for Ph.D studies
1967
Standadises micro-propagation techniques for difficult rooted ornamental plants. Organizes first national seminar on Horticulture
1967
Starts research under Dr. TK Bose on mist propagation, tissue culture growth and flowering  and improvement in yield and quality of ornamentals
1968 Introduces Mussaenda erythrophylla Pink and Queen Srkit
1971 Introduces training courses on gardening
1979 First Volume of “Horticulture Science” published by the Society
1982
Flower Show hall inaugurated by Dr. BD Pande, the then Governor of West Bengal
1989 Re-lays Rock Garden and constructs waterfalls in the garden
1992
Installs first phase of sprinkler system, commissioned deep tubewells and develops drainage system
1993
Introduces Giant Water Lily of the Amazon river. Introduced many uncommon varieties of plants
1994 Launches Mushroom Growing course
1995 Organises International Philately Show
1996
Develops laboratory facility for production of Mushroom spawns for the Mushroom growers. HE Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, the then President of India visits the society
1999 Development of Birla Enclave, Landcaping Belevedere and develops road and pathway
2000
Relaying of Rose Garden and replanting with hybrid roses. Installed automatic Mist Chamber. Introduces Floral arrangement training course. Introduces Medicinal and Herbal Plant training courses
2001 Society receives exemption from donation under Section G of Indian Income TaxAct
2002 Pioneered State Mango Festival in Malda
2003 Develops Nursery, orchids, landscaping and foliage plants
2004
HE Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the then President of India visits the Society. Launched PG Course in Herbology in collaboration with Jadavpur University. Plant Mela was organized for the first time
2005 Raised Members’ Directory. Organized All India Rose Convention
2006
Published the Book “Encyclopedia of Himalayan Medicinal Flora” Vol. I”. Laying of a new Japanese Garden
2007
A new Fruit Orchard was designed and planted with exotic fruit tress. Central Lawn was extended. Two beautiful status were placed at the vantage points of the garden
2008
Botanical Survey of India requested the society to conduct an intensive training program on Garden Maintenance and Herbarium techniques
2009
A global workshop called “Good Medicine  Works”  on interacting with the revolution of Global Ayurveda and Modern Medicine on 13 March 2009
2009
Published  “Encyclopedia of Himalayan Medicinal Flora” Vol. II” under sponsorship of Horticulture Development Foundation
